Dr. Phillip Sussman
Orthopedic Extremity Surgeon
Dr. Phillip Sussman specializes in sports medicine injuries of the knee and shoulder, with a particular interest in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, total shoulder replacements, and general orthopedic care.
He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in biology and then pursued his interest in the medical field by attending Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. Following medical school, Dr. Sussman continued his training in orthopedic surgery by completing his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at USF/HCA Morsani College of Medicine, Largo Medical Center. He later completed an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Orlando Medical Center, where he honed his skills in sports medicine and minimally invasive shoulder and knee surgery. While at Orlando Medical Center, Dr. Sussman provided orthopedic sports coverage alongside his mentors for UCF Football and Athletics, Orlando City Soccer, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and various other sporting events.
After his fellowship, Dr. Sussman spent two years in private practice with Appalachian Orthopedics in Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia, primarily practicing general orthopedics while serving as the team physician for Emory and Henry College Athletics and three local high schools. In 2025, he joined Conway Medical Center to focus primarily on sports medicine, where he currently serves as the team physician for Coastal Carolina University and several nearby high schools.
